  1. Salmonella outbreak kills six in Mexico

  3. MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Six people died and dozens
  4. more were seriously ill from a salmonella outbreak
  5. blamed on bad chicken in a small town in central
  6. Mexico, a television report said Monday.

  8. Two of the six dead were children and 54 people
  9. were ill, the Televisa network's ``24 Hours'' news
  10. program said.

  12. Health officials quarantined the town of San Pablo
  13. Zoquitlan in central Puebla state just east of
  14. Mexico City, the government news agency Notimex
  15. said. Notimex reported 97 people sick.

  17. Televisa showed video of dozens of sick people
  18. crammed into one small room with only four beds.
  19. Most of the sick appeared to be children or
  20. elderly.

  22. A special brigade of 38 health workers was
  23. dispatched to a neighboring town in Puebla state to
  24. deal with the outbreak, Notimex reported.

  26. Notimex said authorities attributed the salmonella
  27. to chicken that was not properly cooked or a
  28. popular chicken dish that likely was prepared with
  29. water that had not been properly boiled.
